![]() ![]() "Siren Song" displays Rise Against's evolution as a band, mixing into the hardcore-punk base a few more fleshed-out rock songs that break out of the three chord mold. (Do the math.) With 2003 came "Revolutions Per Minute," which is as much hardcore as punk with its pummeling drums and group-shouted refrains. And it's all good.Ģ001 saw the release of "The Unraveling," a quality punk album with 16 tracks clocking in at under 37 minutes. But after listening to their 2006 album "The Sufferer and the Witness" I realize that they haven't sold out, they have simply outgrown the limitations of the punk-genre. I was all prepared to accuse Rise Against off selling out after the release of their single "Swing Life Away" from "Siren Song of the Counter Culture," released in 2004. THE SUFFERER AND THE WITNESS SERIESThe former episode title, "What You Don't Know", was a reference both to some elements of the episode, and to the theme song of the television series Dollhouse. The "Witness": Katelin, Kenzie, Hosea, Crystal, Jack, Jade, and the other Crazies. The "Sufferer": Katelin, Kenzie, and Hosea. The episode title is a direct reference to the plot, and the fourth album by the alternative rock band Rise Against.Hosea ends the episode walking away from her house angrily. He later goes to Kirsten for comfort, who is apparently sleepy by the time he visits. Two days later, weariness added with a culmination of unforgotten and unforgiven memories and current issues, Hosea has a bit of an emotional breakdown on the spot at lunch. When Kenzie collapses later, Jack apparently recognizes the parallel as well. Throughout the B-day, Hosea feels uneasy by his recurring thoughts of Katelin's collapse the previous day and his warning to her.The following day, at lunch on a B-day, Kenzie has an anxiety attack, putting Katelin and Hosea (for the second time) both in the helping position. Upon Katelin collapsing (from an anxiety attack) at lunch on an A-day, Hosea and Kenzie take her to the office and wait with her until the ambulence comes.Hosea tries again during the weekend, with him writing only the name of who he's writing to before putting it aside.Hosea trashes the letter when trying to write it at school.Hosea considers writing a letter not meant to for delivery of a message, but more for venting of thoughts.Katelin takes this, and responds with "they can kiss my ass." Hosea warns Katelin (as another precaution) to not come to the tree on B-days at 2nd lunch with Kenzie and Katie. ![]()
